POEM CROWN is the textile project of artist and designer Lisa Smith. She works with vintage and found fabrics, cutting and sewing patchwork, appliqué and graphic shapes into playful, one-of-a-kind pieces.

I was drawn to Lisa’s graphic and poetic world, and to the way she brings a distinctly American, handmade character to French workwear.

I DYE FOR U is the natural dye studio of Isabelle Ormières, based in Montreuil, France. Her practice is rooted in plant-based color, using indigo and other natural dyes to transform textiles through an experimental, hands-on process.

I was drawn to Isabelle’s way of working with plants and color, and to how each piece develops its own character through the dyeing process.

Margarita Brum is a Uruguayan artist based in Montevideo. Trained in photography and audiovisual work, her practice brings together embroidery, collage, photography, paper and painting.

I was drawn to Margarita’s way of mixing different mediums and to the poetic, surreal world she creates through textile, image and imagination.

Julie Hamisky is a French artist and sculptor whose work has been exhibited internationally. Inspired by the natural world, she preserves the delicate beauty of flowers and plants through electroplating, capturing a moment in time.

As we say in French, elle arrête le temps.

I was drawn to Julie’s work because she transforms something fragile into something lasting. Adding one of her small sculptures to French workwear is another example of how a simple utilitarian garment can become Artwear.
